Build a clear oral answer

Move from summary to analysis

A summary reports the central message and the main supporting ideas. An argument answers a question by taking a position and testing it against evidence or examples. Avoid giving your opinion before showing that you have understood the document.

Use a simple structure: identify the issue, explain two main ideas, then answer a related question with reasons and limits. Useful transitions include “The main issue is…”, “This suggests that…”, “However…” and “A possible limitation is…”.

Practice

Question: Can automation improve accounting work? A balanced answer distinguishes repetitive tasks from professional judgement. It explains a benefit, identifies a risk and states the conditions needed for a useful implementation.

Exercice
